Pneumonia is an infection in one or both the lungs caused by bacteria, viruses and fungi. It is an inflammatory condition generating infection in the lungs causing the air sacs in your lungs to be filled with fluid or pus also referred to as “alveoli”, making it really hard for you to breathe in enough oxygen to reach your bloodstream.
Antibiotics may be prescribed for bacterial pneumonia.
Most people begin to feel better after one to three days of antibiotic treatment. However, you should take antibiotics as your doctor prescribes. If you stop too soon, your pneumonia may come back.
